Red Hen Has Flown The Coop!

Here you go, Korrie!  I hope you enjoy your package.  I had a lot of fun putting it together for you.

Korrie and I decided to do her apron more in line with the Red Hen theme.  I added the extra goodies as a surprise and a huge thank you for being patient with me while I was down with a stomach bug.

So, surprise!

Pics aren't great, but at least you're getting a sneak peek!  That's chicken wire underneath ...it doesn't show up very well in the photo.

It'll be on it's way to you tomorrow...enjoy!  :  )

GOOD THINGS HAPPEN

This was a very busy "bust my butt" kind of week.

However, there were highlights!  I had my first giveaway that went to Korrie.  Yay, Korrie!

And...I won a prize package myself!  Yay, me!  I won a Junk Bonanza giveaway from Amy @ Junkologie and I'll be attending Junk Bonanza in September.    I was so excited when Amy told me.  I completely dorked out!  I've been a fan of Ki since she was on HGTV with Sue.  You know, back in the day.

I can't wait to get there.  Not only will Magoo and I really enjoy the cooler temperature in lovely Minne-SO-ta ( ya, I like to say Minne-SO-ta!), but I'm in heaven imagining all the fun and unique things we'll buy see!   So thanks a million to AmyKi and the peeps at Junk Bonanza!

If you want chance to win the same Junk Bonanza prize package, stop over to enter at Garden Antqs Vintage. Better hurry, you only have until noon Saturday 8/20!

And the winner is....

Korrie from Red Hen Home!

You can visit Red Hen Home HERE

Korrie, you are my kind of girl...chocolate and more chocolate!  You win the Williams-Sonoma  gift card and the monogrammed linen apron.   I'll contact you this evening by email.

I'd never heard of Farr's ice cream.  So you know that I had to look it up- because I don't want to miss out on something good.  Korrie likes Farr's German Chocolate Cake Crunch.  That sounds really, really good.  Just way too far for me to drive.  Shoot!  You go ahead and enjoy.  ;  )

Thanks so much to everyone who played.   I appreciate all of you taking the time to read and hang out here.   I'm really happy that you enjoyed reading Nothing Will Happen and that you'll join me in shouting it from the rooftops.  I'm glad you're here.

Please try again next month for a fun fall giveaway!

The Nothing Will Happen Club and a Giveaway

Remember this little girl and the revolution she started?

She's my little "nothing will happen!" girl friend.  If you haven't read the post, you'll need to do so in order to understand what the heck I'm talking about.

I've wanted to do a giveaway for weeks, but simply haven't had the time.  I know, I know...you guys probably gave up on me.   It's been a really busy summer!

I feel lucky to have gotten to know a little about many of you who read and follow my blog.  You are inspiring, interesting people who have shown me your gracious hearts and given me the courage to reach out and share my stories and hobbies with you.  Thanks so much!

So with that being said, I introduce you to

                           The Nothing Will Happen Club.

Each month I'll be doing a giveaway celebrating a little dolce far niente.  Translated as "the art of doing nothing" (but sounding much better in Italian),  making time for "doing nothing"  has never been my top priority.   We all love our families,  have jobs to be done and hobbies we enjoy.  But, making the commitment to slow down is vital.  As hard as we try, we simply can't do it all.

Yes, a little dolce far niente.   Abandon a few of the "shoulds" in our lives and adopt a few more "coulds".  Read and laugh and dream away an afternoon instead of doing the laundry.   Stay in your pajamas all day once in awhile.   Do something for yourself without feeling guilty for indulging your own pursuit of happiness and calm.   Breathe, rest, renew.  Nothing will happen.

Do you want to hear a deep and disturbing confession?  I eat chocolate ice cream cones in bed.  Yes, right up on all the pillows with new sheets and everything.  I can hear you gasp out loud, but as a recovering neat freak I can tell you that it's fun as shit.  For those of you who don't understand Texas lingo, that means that it's really, really fun.  And why can't I eat ice cream in bed anyway?  Nothing will happen!

Have I dripped that chocolate-y mess on my sheets?

Absolutely.  A little rub with a Tide to Go stick and everything's fine. And, it's no telling how many white tees I've ruined.  OK,  I do know how many.  FOUR!  But, so what?  I needed new painting shirts, anyway.

Y'all know what I'm talking about. And trust me, my friends-  I still have to work at it.  It's difficult to slow down.   But, it's getting easier.  Or, it could be the sugar high.   I'm not really sure.  ;  )

So... excuse the badly lit photos (it's past midnite) and take a look.

This month's giveaway ...drum roll please...will include the following:

Embroidered linen apron and a $50 Williams-Sonoma Gift Card.  Woo Hoo!

Keep in mind that this card can be used at Williams-Sonoma, Williams-Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, PB Kids, PB Teen or West Elm.

The apron is 100% linen and was purchased at Wisteria.  I did the embroidery.  The one in the photo is an example, but you will receive an apron just like this.  I chose a very pale shade of aqua for my initial, but the winner can certainly select their preferred color if something different is desired.  The  charming chair embroidery pattern came from Urban Threads.

Entering is simple!

1.) Leave a comment telling me what kind of ice cream cone you'd drip all over the place, if you were so inclined.  I've broken up with Ben and Jerry and have taken up with Haagen Dazs Dark Chocolate.

2.) Become a  follower of What We Keep and a member of The Nothing Will Happen Club, if you haven't already.   Let me know in your comment that you are a follower.

That's it!  I'll announce the winner on Wednesday, August 17.   I'll happily embroider the winner's initial on the apron as another token of my appreciation.  I'm new to BlogLand so your chance of winning is pretty darn good!

Thanks for being a "keeper" and I look forward to getting to know some new friends and finding new blogs to enjoy.

Have a great weekend!

T.

Note:  WS, Haagen-Dazs and Tide did not ask me to endorse their products.   I like what I like!

When furniture calls your name.

Two weeks ago, I ventured out for an afternoon of treasure hunting.  I found the most incredible deal on an old French wardrobe.  It's the perfect piece for my sewing room, and at 10 feet long will hold tons of my vintage linens and loads of fabric.  It's like having three armoires- the piece is huge.

It's currently a pale green with typical French details, but you know I'm going to paint it.  At least the doors and sides and I don't really care for the gold trim details.  The inside is maple and in great shape.  A mirror inside each end door, locking doors with original keys, and large drawers make me a very happy girl!

The room is about 800 sq.ft and has been used for many things...mostly holding my "store".  I'm a crafty girl and I need lots of stuff.  I can't wait to finish it up and show it to you.  With our sons moving out this week and next, I haven't had much time to play.   Which is why I'm blogging at 1:00 a.m.   (Yawn)

I'll post the Before and After when the room is complete.  There's much to be done.

Enjoy your weekend!  Linking up to:

Seriously? When a trend goes too far.

While I enjoy some aspects of the "Industrial" trend in home decor, I must object to the idea of this nasty instrument hanging in any one's home.

Seriously????  A giant meat hook straight out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre?  Crazy!

I'm stunned, I'm shocked, I'm really creeped out.

"Designer meat hook for the serial killer with sass and style!"   Can you imagine the accessories?

And here's the kicker- it's selling for $1435 in a gorgeous store in Houston.  Gah!

I hope they do a psychological profile on the dude that buys this thing.  'Cuz you know he'll be crazy.

Here's the description:

Forged Iron Meat Hook
American
20th Century
Amazing forged iron meat hook!  Amazing???

Price $1,435

Condition  Excellent
In excellent condition!  I certainly wouldn't entertain the thought of anything less, would you?  The horror of having a giant meat hook hanging in your kitchen that didn't meet the expectations of your dinner guests!  Charles Manson would be appalled!

Measurements
height: 34 in.
depth: 23 in.

Someone call Dexter and tell him his showpiece has been found....ugh.  Ugh!  Ugh, again.

Please excuse me while I make myself a chocolate cone and watch a rerun of Nate.  I'm hoping I'll get distracted by his spiffy outfit and cutie pie smile.

I don't do crazy.  ;  )
