Happy New Year

See the cute little wooden tag?  I ordered them from Pick Your Plum.  I love them!
I ordered four different versions, which I'll show you later this week.
And yes, I took them back from the boys for next year.

George Clooney better be in that bag of yours
or you can hit the road, Big Guy.
(He wasn't.)
You can add Santy Clause to a photo @
www.capturethemagic.com
Very fun.

I'm dreaming of a fried chicken.
(Please sing along)
Throw in some biscuits, gravy and smashed potatoes and I'm a happy camper.
I'd like a spinach salad full of good stuff.
And of course...a chocolate cake.

I've never been a black-eyed peas kind of girl.  I never make them on New Year's.
  Blech.
Bring me luck?  I don't think so.
Chocolate cake is the ticket.

Now, just who is going to cook all this stuff?
I've been sick with a cold/flu for 9 days.
Can I rally for the sake of the cake?

I'll let you know.

Enjoy your champagne at midnight
and know that as I raise my glass of NyQuil to ring in the New Year,
I'll be thinking of you all and hoping that
2013
will be a year filled with health and happy days for all of us.

Cheers! Kiss Noise! Hugs!

P.S.
There were no sheep in my bottle.
Very disappointing.

Baby's First Christmas

I love this big boy.
I'm keeping him.
My son will have a problem with that,
but I'm quite sure that Bruce loves me the best.
Merry Christmas
to all the pups in blogland!

A Day Of Remembrance

Christmas in July- Favorite Things

Unexpected events this weekend kept me from completing a Christmas craft for the party.
To save the day, I'm filling in with this post from the 2012 holidays.
(It's a public service announcement for all you ladies that didn't get to order a bay wreath last year.)
Remember?

Christmas wouldn't be the same for me if I didn't have a few of my favorite things.
The smell of the fresh bay leaf wreath and a pot of simmering wassail on the stove
make for the beginning of the Christmas season in our home.

The bay wreath has started to dry and we'll use the dried leaves in our meals all year long.
I think the wreath delivery is my favorite box to open...it's so aromatic and smells like Christmas to me.

The vintage linens were embroidered by me years ago and are my favorite napkins for Christmas.

If you're interested, you'll be able to get delivery of a bay leaf wreath thru Williams Sonoma.
Look for them around Halloween- you can choose your delivery week.
I usually get mine delivered before Thanksgiving.

The mulling spices are wonderful for wassail or mulled wine.
I also use mine with a few sliced lemons to fill the house with the smells of deliciousness.
Yes, that's a word. ; )
Just simmer on low with plenty of water.
And don't forget about it and burn your pot.
That is not a smell of deliciousness.
Trust me, I know.

These things go fast after Thanksgiving, so mark your calendars to order early.
Before Turkey Day.
Enjoy your favorites during this time and do what brings you happiness and peace.
These are certainly two of those things for me.

Happy Christmas! in July.

Un-Looped

I interrupt your holiday decorating for an important PSA regarding
a collapse in my world as I know it.
My 'oldies but goodies' are aware that I have a thing for Froot Loops.
I kicked my addiction to this happy bowl of sugar last summer and
have been eating organic grains and other 'good for me' stuff.

On a recent trip to Target, I had a relapse.
I wrestled the last box of Froot Loops from an unsuspecting 9 year old
in the throes of a losing argument with his mother over his cereal selection.
Sorry, kid.
Sucks to be you.
Perks of semi-adulthood are good.

So, while I was enjoying my frooty loops and looking at the 517 catalogs that arrived that day...
I came upon a disturbing site in my spoon.
That's right.
An UN-looped froot!

Heller?

In all my days of binging on the looped froot, I have never seen this travesty.
Not cool, Kellogg's.
I bought loops and I want loops.
Enough said.
You may now return to your tinsel and tangle.
