My Steiff Collection

One of my favorite collections of keeps is my Steiff animals.
This bear...I adore this bear.
He was my first.
His mohair fur and that face- let's just say that
little Latte gets stroked a lot.
Sshhh...do not tell Bruce.

Latte Macchiato

Rico the Meerkat makes me laugh.
I imagine that he speaks in a Nathan Lane voice
like Timon  in The Lion King.
"Sooo, where ya from?"

Wutzi
He's a wild boar.
I guess he could fill in for Pumba and hang with Timon?

Hoppel - the sweetest little gray bunny.

Esel- Mohair Pre-1961

I found Esel thru a blog friend, Lisa from Out Junking.
She doesn't blog anymore but what a sweet lady she is.
When I saw Esel in the window of a shop she posted about, she was sweet enough to get me the info needed and he became mine.
He has the original red halter, but you know I don't do red.
 I prefer him au natural.
I think he's my oldest.
You know how I love the donks.

Musical Kecki plays a German folksong and his tail moves to the music.
Magoo brought him back from Germany.
I love the crazy hair around his ears.
I have a lot of the various squirrels.
Somehow my stocking is always holding a little squirrel.
Big Kecki is the mama to all the littles.

Possy.
Another skirl.

This one is very old and has only a small bit of tag left.
He's Perri and made in the late 1950's- early 1960's.
He's missing the acorn that he was originally holding.

Piep the sweet little mouse- isn't he cute?
He joined the fun in my stocking last year.

 Piff the Woodchuck

It's like having a little forest of critters in the house.
Not that I don't already have a zoo.
But a forest...a nice peaceful forest.
Sshhh, let me have my dream before Jack runs thru here
dripping mud from his latest frog dig.

And speaking of dogs- look at Mopsy.
Don't you just love the expression on his face.
It reminds me of Jack when I've just caught him
hiding his bones in the couch cushions.

This one is Sophie's favorite and I found him right after Henry died.
He's definitely not a Corgi but he'll pass, even with that long tail.
She will sit in front of the case and stare at him for the
longest time and if I take him out she smells him and licks him and doesn't try to destroy him like she does all other stuffed animals.
She stole one of the squirrels a few years ago- a pricey one- the little sneaky girl is always on the prowl hoping that I haven't closed the case.

Eeyore.  EEEEE-ORRRRE.
Is there any other way to photograph him?

And, of course- there is Pooh Bear.
I have removed his red vest- well, you know why.
Sophie looks like a stuffed animal herself with those
big round eyes and button nose.
Mama's girl hopes that one day she can have Pooh.
Such longing in those big eyes but trust me she is a killer.
She was probably foaming at the mouth.
You've heard that I have vicious killer dogs?
Well, there she is!
There are more critters in the case but that's for
 another time.
I'm on the hunt for Tigger at a reasonable price
so let me know if you are selling one.
Either a vintage one or the limited edition Disney Tigger,
like Pooh and Eeyore.
Yes, I'm aware that I have a real life version of Tigger in Jack
but he no longer fits in a cabinet like when he was tiny and manageable!
Remember?

I hope you have a good weekend full of fun and sun-
I'll be continuing my birthday season when Magoo returns home today.
Let me give you a quick look at what he sent me.
I'm a big fan of Farmgirl Flowers but I hadn't seen this yet.
He's clever every once in awhile, that Magoo.
Who doesn't love a tiny pineapple???

Thank you for all the birthday wishes over on FB- I love ya'll!

  1. Happy Birthday season! The collection is quite adorable. Of course you know I love the squirrels the best. Are these names you gave them or came with the creatures? How did all that Jack fit into such a small puppy? Sophie needs a creature of her own.

  5. Wow, what a collection. I had a gorgeous Steiff teddy, he was my Mother's and he sat on the back of an o,d vintage sofa in our kitchen. One day we came home, this is going back ten years or so, I don't remember where we had been, nowhere very far because we had left Rosie, our yellow Labrador, in the kitchen. Rosie was the most adorable soft gentle dog. Anyway we arrived home and the Steiff teddy was in thousands of pieces a,k over the floor, totally unrepairable. She never had chewed anything before and never did again after that, I can one imagine it was something in the vintage stuffing that smelt nice to her!
