Wilbur and Fern

As most of you know, I have a thing for animals.
My house is full of them.
Live and... not.
I associate most of the not with characters from books I read as a child.
Books that impacted me.
Books that taught me about unconditional love and responsibility and commitment.
So it's no shock that I present to you, Wilbur and Fern.
They are named for the radiant little pig in Charlotte's Web and the little girl who loved him.
There are so many versions of Wilbur that live here.
I do love that little pig,

This pair sat in the garden for years until a nasty hurricane approached.
To avoid projectile piggies, we brought in all the yard ornaments.
Poor piggies have been sitting in the garage since then.
I brought them in and gave them a good cleaning,
though not in buttermilk like Mrs. Zuckerman would have done.
A coat of ASCP in Old White and some accessories brought them back to life.
They'll enjoy the summer on the back patio.
(Remember not to wax if your painted objects will be in the heat/sun.)

Can you see this little piggy?
There's a bench behind the sofa waiting to be recovered-
so Bruce has chosen this as his favorite hidden napping place.
The boy likes pillows.
I can see you, BooBoo.

Go save something from your garage and pretty up your porch!

Tarnished Royalty- Drop it or Swap it

Here's my swap for this week...
It's a child's apron with an imperfect (meaning slightly over ironed) iron on-
embellished with glittery wings and glitter sugar in the cup.
Yeah, we call that "aged", right?
"I'm a spoonful of sugar"- "I'm a cup of joy"
Comes with the etched (faux) bird knob hanger.
The purslane stays with me. ;)

Bear and Boots

I have a small but interesting collection of old baby boots/shoes.
I am so drawn to the story of who they belonged to.
Though I'll never know, I am satisfied with the images I have created in my mind
of the sweet toddler or two that slipped these on and had a life long, long ago.

They are being worn by my shaggy bear, along with a vintage baby's linen nightshirt.

He amuses me as he sits atop a brass hanger.
He's safe from Sophie up there.
His name?
Nemesis.
Sophie has been on a quest to tear him to shreds for years.
The girl is a stalker.
No, LuLu.
(Her name is Sophia Lucia Ricardo- she goes by a few names.)

Do you like a little whimsy in your home?
You'll find lots of it here!

I Know (I Know)

Have you ever seen something that made you feel happy from the inside out?
And then made you feel happy a little more each time you saw it?
This video of Ben Ames and his daughter is my all time favorite video gone viral.
I find myself singing or humming the tune all day
and I have watched it a shameless number of times.

To watch the darling video Click HERE

Sadly, I couldn't watch it all day.
What I could do was put a visual reminder up.

"Tonight You Belong to Me" is a popular American song,
 written in 1926 by lyricist
Billy Rose and composer Lee David.

It sits next to my computer.
All I have to do is glance at it and little Adelaide is singing in my head.
That child is a stress melter.
(Thank you to Adelaide's daddy and the pink ukelele.)
What do you have close by that makes you smile?
I'd love to know!

For the swap at Tarnished Royalty, I'm offering up two summery aprons.
I bought them years ago when I was on a vintage apron kick.
The seller was unsure if they were newly made to appear vintage or were actually vintage.
Either way, these aprons are cute and will remind you of your Grandma's kitchen.

Wanna Swap Stuff?

It's Tuesday evening and it's time to head over to Ann's for some swapping!
Pop over to Tarnished Royalty for the swap.

Swap #1
Today I offer up these two kitchen towels.
I have had them for years but have never used them.
Any guesses why?  Yes, you "know-it-alls!"  I don't do red.
Cherry has red font and trim, Apple has brown.
Someone needs these for their cheerful vintage kitchen.

(Thanks, Donna!)

Swap #2
Next up is a vintage rug punch.
I have no idea of the age, but I was more interested in the mailing tube when I bought it.
Mailed on September 1, 1942 from Chicago, Ill.
Very cool.

It's my first time to join and the party is only at week 4, so let's go swap!

You know you have too much stuff in your drawers.
I sure enjoyed digging thru mine.

hahahahahahahahahhaha!

Drop It or Swap It

Attention, Ladies and Gents!
I am usually late to the party about these things,
but wanted to share a new linky event over at

A swap party is shopping and I'm all about shopping.
Getting rid of something I'm not in love with anymore is just icing.
Swapping stuff with fellow bloggers...fun, right?
We've got great stuff!

The party is brand new so we need to get over there and add some goodies to the mix.
I hope you'll check it out because I want to play. :)
I can't just sit around watching the squirrels and birds all day.

On Wednesdays I can go junkin' at Tarnished Royalty in my jammies.
I'm planning on finding myself a few new keeps.

Get all the info HERE !

I'm off to choose some things to add to the swap-
I'll definitely be there next week.
